The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed a Punch Newspaper report dated April 17, 2025, claiming that hundreds of Boko Haram suspects were arrested in Lagos, labeling it “false, malicious, and ill-intended.”

The publication alleged arrests in trailer park communities, but a police investigation found no evidence of Boko Haram presence or arrests anywhere in the state.

Following the report, Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh ordered an immediate probe. Surveillance detectives, the State Intelligence Department, and other units visited the mentioned locations, confirming with community leaders, operators, and drivers that no such arrests occurred. The Command called the report a fabrication meant to incite fear among Lagosians.

The police urged residents to disregard the story, go about their daily activities without fear, and report suspicious activities to the nearest station or via the control room at 08063299264.

They also cautioned media outlets against publishing unverified claims that could disrupt the state’s peace, advising the report’s writer to verify facts before publication.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, vowing not to be distracted by false narratives.
