A Dallas singer identified as Jada Arnell Thomas has been hospitalized after she was shot onstage following a performance Saturday with The Black Academy of Arts and Letters in downtown Dallas.
Witnesses told NBC DFW singer Jada Arnell was signing autographs on stage when a woman in the crowd shot her.
Jada was transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue and is reported to be in stable condition.
Dallas police officers arrested 26-year-old Micah Williams in connection with an aggravated assault involving a handgun.
Authorities report that a handgun was recovered at the scene, and Williams has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail.
At this time, police have not disclosed a motive for the assault, and it remains unclear if Williams and the victim were acquainted.
