After the game, Mourinho appeared from behind to pinch Buruk’s nose after which he fell to the ground covering his face.

Galatasaray accused Mourinho of physically assaulting Buruk, while Fernabahce blamed him for provoking the special one.

The Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) opined that they had considered Buruk’s action, which led to Mourinho being given a reduced ban because of provocation.

“Mourinho shall be banned from entering the dressing room and the bench for three official matches,” TFF said in a statement.

The former Roma coach was also fined 292,500 Turkish Lira (£5,955).

Mourinho’s assistant Salvatore Foti was given a four-match ban for an “insult towards an opposing team player”.

He is expected to miss the games against Trabzonspor, Sivasspor and Kayserispor.

Galatasaray players Baris Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Demirbay, as well as Fenerbahce player Fred, have been handed three-match bans.

Fenerbahce’s Merk Hakan was also suspended for one match.
