Nigeria has been hit by another nationwide blackout following a fresh collapse of the national electricity grid on Monday.
The outage, which occurred in the afternoon, has left millions of homes and businesses without power.
Many Nigerians took to social media to express their frustration after electricity was suddenly cut off across different states.
On X (formerly Twitter), users reported a “suspicious” and simultaneous loss of power.
“Was that the national grid?” one user asked, while another noted that the way the light went off across multiple areas at once pointed to a major system failure.
While the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is yet to release an official statement on the exact cause, data from the Independent System Operator showed that power generation dropped to zero megawatts shortly after the incident.
