Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has cried out on social media after allegedly being assaulted by uniformed officers while carrying out a charitable outreach for homeless individuals in Lagos.
The actress, who is known for her humanitarian efforts, revealed that she was in the middle of preparing free meals for the less privileged when she was accosted by operatives believed to be members of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force.
According to Sarah, the officers not only disrupted the outreach but also harassed her, seized her cooking gas, utensils, and food supplies, and allegedly inflicted injuries on her in the process.
In an emotional post shared via her Instagram page, she expressed shock and disappointment over the incident, sharing a video of her bruised hand as evidence of the encounter.
“My heart aches. Today, as I was cooking free food for the vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Lagos, like I always do, some uniformed men came there, harassed me, bullied me, and took away the food I was cooking, my cooking gas, and everything I was using,” she wrote.
“My only offence was serving love on a plate through my healthy meals. I am not a chef, and I do not cook for a living.”
Sarah emphasized that her outreach was purely an act of kindness, born out of compassion for those struggling to feed themselves daily.
The actress further appealed to the Lagos State government and relevant authorities to investigate the assault and bring the culprits to justice, stressing that such actions discourage good-hearted Nigerians from engaging in community service.
“It’s sad that in a country where hunger is at an all-time high, people trying to help are being attacked. I just wanted to serve love and kindness, not cause trouble,” she lamented.
Fans and fellow entertainers have since taken to her comment section to condemn the alleged assault and express solidarity, hailing her for her consistent efforts to touch lives through her “Serve Love on a Plate” outreach.
