The Lagos State Police Command has successfully restored peace to Tejuosho Market, Surulere, after a violent disturbance by hoodlums. The group had mobilized under the guise of protesting a power outage and proceeded to damage a bank premises and attack police officers.
The incident was reported on September 18, 2025, at around 2:30pm. The hoodlums began attacking people and destroying property within Tejuosho Market Phase II.
They also attacked mobile police personnel guarding a commercial bank but were firmly repelled and prevented from invading the bank.
In response to the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, promptly deployed additional officers to the scene.
The police successfully dispersed the rioters and arrested eighteen suspects who were actively participating in the violence.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody for investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public and traders that the situation is under control and urged all residents to go about their lawful businesses without fear.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Jimoh, also reiterated that attacks on police personnel and property will not be tolerated and advised Lagosians to respect law enforcement officers.
