In a swift crackdown on crime, detectives from the Iju Division of the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 38-year-old security guard accused of orchestrating a burglary in the Ifako area.
The suspect, Yisa Hassan, allegedly conspired with accomplices to break into a resident’s home and steal valuables totaling ₦1,785,000.
The incident unfolded on August 15, 2025, when the homeowner returned to find his property ransacked. Missing items included a Sumec generator, a Fireman generator, a National air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines. Police launched an immediate investigation, leading to Hassan’s arrest in the same neighborhood where he worked as a guard.
Investigators uncovered evidence that Hassan masterminded the heist and worked with others who remain at large. Authorities recovered all the stolen items, and efforts continue to track down the fleeing suspects. The case will head to court once the probe wraps up.
Lagos State Police Commissioner CP Olohundare Jimoh reassured residents of the command’s commitment to justice. “We will leave no stone unturned in bringing criminal elements to book,” he stated.
He also urged Lagosians to conduct thorough background checks before hiring employees, highlighting the risks of insider threats.
