Operatives from the Ojo Division of the Lagos State Police Command recovered an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna vehicle loaded with suspected cannabis and other items during a routine patrol on August 15, 2025.
The incident unfolded when police stopped the vehicle for a standard check. The driver jumped out and fled with the keys, abandoning the car on the spot. Officers conducted a thorough search and found two bags of substances believed to be cannabis, one army jungle hat, and two ATM cards.
Authorities transferred the vehicle and recovered items to Special Squad 2 at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja for further investigation. The fleeing suspect remains at large, but efforts continue to track him down.
Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh praised the Ojo operatives for their alertness. “This recovery highlights our commitment to proactive policing,” he said. Jimoh assured residents that patrols and intelligence operations would intensify across Lagos to curb crime.
He urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the police. “Community cooperation is key to maintaining safety,” the commissioner added.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on drug-related offenses and other crimes, promising swift action against offenders.
