Police in Lagos have arrested a car wash attendant who stole a customer’s vehicle from Alausa.
The suspect fled with the car, but detectives from the Alausa Police Division tracked him down and caught him in Sagamu, Ogun State.
The incident highlights the risks of vehicle theft in busy urban areas.
According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, the attendant took advantage of the owner’s trust during a routine car wash. Hundeyin shared the story on X (formerly Twitter) to warn the public.
“A car wash attendant in Alausa ran away with a customer’s vehicle,” Hundeyin posted. “Detectives of Alausa Police Division arrested him with the vehicle in Sagamu. Be security conscious always!”
Authorities recovered the stolen vehicle intact during the arrest. The suspect now faces charges of theft, and investigations continue to determine if he has links to other crimes.
This case serves as a reminder for vehicle owners to stay vigilant.
