Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has strongly criticized the repeated arrests of Omoyele Sowore, a prominent activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters. Sani called the detentions “unconscionable” and urged authorities to respect Sowore’s constitutional rights to freedom of speech and protest.
In a recent statement on X, Sani emphasized that Sowore’s arrests should not replace open debate. “If there is anything he says that is not true, it should be countered with alternative facts rather than resorting to arrests,” Sani said.
He praised Sowore as a non-partisan figure who fearlessly expresses his views, sparing no one in his pursuit of truth.
Sowore, known for his #RevolutionNow campaign, was recently detained, prompting Sani to appeal for his dignified treatment and respect for his rights.
