The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) intensified its efforts to maintain cleanliness in the Akowonjo-Egbeda axis with a follow-up enforcement operation on May 2, 2025.

The LAWMA Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team targeted Micon, Baale, and Kwara bus stops along Akowonjo Road, apprehending three individuals, one woman and two scavengers, for illegal waste disposal.
All suspects chose community-service sanctions over fines, reflecting LAWMA’s focus on corrective measures.
The operation, part of ongoing monitoring in the community, showed encouraging compliance levels, according to LAWMA officials.
