A combined team of the Nigerian Army, police, and armed guards from the Nigeria Correctional Centre were positioned at the Correctional Centre on Sapele Road.

Department of State Service officials were at the headquarters of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Nearby roads around the Ring Road were blocked due to overflow, causing traffic disruptions. The affected roads included parts of the Benin-Sagamu expressway, Benin-Agbor-Asaba road, and Benin-Sapele road.

Businesses were closed as owners stayed away.

Similarly, commercial banks and other public places like malls and gas stations were shut down in the city.

The Edo State Civil Service Secretariat and the State House of Assembly were also closed.

At the Edo House of Assembly, armoured vehicles and police were stationed at the entrance and surrounding areas.
