Nigerian Afrobeats artist Skales is currently experiencing an unexpected career high as his 2015 hit single “Shake Body” has resurfaced and gone viral ten years after its initial release.

The infectious dance track, which once ruled the airwaves, has found new life on social media, particularly with international audiences. From TikTok to Instagram, content creators and even white folks abroad have jumped on the wave, dancing to the upbeat rhythm of the song and giving it a fresh lease of life. What makes this comeback even more rewarding for Skales is the fact that he owns the masters to “Shake Body,” meaning all revenue from streaming is going directly into his pocket.

Reacting to the unexpected resurgence, Skales took to Twitter to share his gratitude and faith. A fan had tweeted, “Only God influences the great influencers to influence your song for free to go viral. Giving you a promo wey pass PR budget.” The singer responded humbly, saying, “There’s nobody like God. Just trust in Him and the rest is easy… do your work and let God handle the rest.”

This viral moment highlights the unpredictable nature of music in the digital age, where a song can be rediscovered years later and suddenly resonate with a global audience. It also reflects the power of social media in music promotion, something traditional PR budgets may not always guarantee.

Skales’ faith and patience have paid off in a big way, proving once again that good music never truly expires. With full ownership of his music, the current wave of success is not just emotional but financially rewarding. Indeed, as he rightly said, there is nobody like God.
