An 18-year-old, Temitope Olamoru, has been remanded in custody following an alleged vicious assault on a young girl with a razor blade in Lagos. The incident, which left the victim with severe injuries, has sparked outrage in the Alakuko community.
According to Police Prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere, the attack took place on March 12, 2025, at around 10:15 p.m. on Faiusi Street, Ajegunle, in the Alakuko area of Lagos. The defendant, Olamoru, is accused of inflicting deep cuts on the face, neck, and hand of Iremide Olawale, the victim, using a razor blade. “The defendant unlawfully attempted to murder Iremide Olawale by attacking her with a razor blade, causing grievous injuries,” Ikhayere told the court during the hearing.
The case was heard at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, where Olamoru faced charges of causing grievous harm and attempted murder. These offenses violate Sections 230(b) and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which carry severe penalties upon conviction.
Presiding Magistrate Lateef Owolabi ordered Olamoru’s remand for prosecution, denying bail due to the seriousness of the charges. The court adjourned the matter to April 14, 2025, for further proceedings, allowing time for additional investigation and preparation by both the prosecution and defense.
