Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has provided an update on his future after reports emerged about his imminent exit from Galatasaray.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray in the summer on loan from Napoli, and he has enjoyed a prolific time in Turkey.
He was on target in the 2-0 win over Samsunspor on Friday night to move the hosts six points clear of Jose Mourinho’s Fernabahce in the title race.
The former Lille forward has been linked with a move to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus ahead of a busy summer for the Super Eagles star.
According to reports, Napoli have placed a hefty price of €75m on Osimhen to allow him seal a permanent exit away from the club.
It is understood that the fee is way above Galatasaray’s financial reach, leaving established European clubs to battle for his signature.
However, Osimhen has shed light on his future, declaring his love for Galatasaray while promising to give his all until the of the season before deciding his future.
He said: “There are always rumours about me, of course. But I prefer to live in the moment. I am enjoying myself right now. I am enjoying both the club and my life here,” Osimhen told the club’s official website.
“The fans have also been incredibly supportive since the first day, all stakeholders within Galatasaray, everyone has helped me. They have always been there for me, not just me, but also my friends and family.
“Now I will fight for the fifth star with my team, and a decision will be made at the end of the season about what will be best for everyone. Galatasaray will forever be in my heart.”
Osimhen has scored 29 goals, and recorded five assists in all competitions for Galatasaray this season.
Galatasaray are closing in on their third consecutive Turkish League title, and Osimhen is convinced that the club can win their remaining games of the season.
He said: “We were a bit rushed in the first half against Samsunspor, we actually wanted to show ourselves, how good we are… We started playing fast and forward.
“We needed to have a bit more ball. We knew our opponent, they were both tough opponents and something that suited their playing style—in fact our rushing was to their advantage. We played more patiently in the second half. I am also happy with my goal contribution. We need to continue by adding to this. We need to carry this momentum forward.
“The focus is on us right now. We have a responsibility as a team. We want to win. We actually have the quality to win every match. It is not easy, we will face very important opponents.
Galatasaray have won 23 games, drawn five, and lost one in 33 matches in the Turkish League to move six points clear of Fenerbahce.
Up next for Osimhen and his teammates is a home clash against Bodrum on Friday.
