Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is making waves beyond the pitch once again, this time in the film industry. Teaming up with acclaimed British director Matthew Vaughn, best known for hits like Kingsman and Kick-Ass, Ronaldo has launched an independent film studio named UR•MARV, aiming to deliver adrenaline-charged action movies to global audiences.
The new studio already has two films in production, with a third in development, signaling an ambitious start to Ronaldo’s cinematic journey. “This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business,” Ronaldo said, expressing his passion for storytelling and entertainment.
Vaughn, known for his dynamic, visually bold filmmaking style, described Ronaldo as “a real-life superhero” whose legendary career on the football pitch has inspired millions. “Cristiano Ronaldo has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written,” he said. “I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him.”
While the financial terms of their 50-50 joint venture remain under wraps, the timing of the launch is strategic. With streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ increasingly supporting original content from independent creators, UR•MARV is set to carve out a niche in the booming entertainment industry.
Ronaldo’s foray into film is the latest move in his growing business empire. Off the pitch, he holds stakes in a luxury hotel chain, a Portuguese media company, a porcelain manufacturing business, and recently invested in a tennis and padel club in Lisbon.
At 40, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to defy expectations, not just on the field but now also in the boardroom and soon, on the big screen. UR•MARV could be his boldest move yet.
