Bollywood Legend Manoj Kumar, Passes Away at 87

Veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar has passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai, India.

His death was confirmed by Dr. Santosh Shetty from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where the actor had been admitted. According to Shetty, Kumar’s passing was due to “age-related health issues.” His son, Kunal Goswami, also confirmed the news, stating that the iconic actor had been battling various health problems.

Manoj Kumar, known for his portrayal of patriotism in cinema, gained immense popularity during the 1960s and 1970s leaving a lasting impact on Indian cinema and shaping the country’s film industry. Born Harikrishan Goswami in 1937 in Punjab, Kumar became a household name with films like Shaheed, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and Kranti. His significant contributions to Bollywood industry earned him the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in the industry.

His movies, often centered around patriotic themes, struck a powerful chord with audiences across India.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to pay tribute, calling Manoj Kumar an “icon of Indian cinema.” He wrote, “Manoj Ji’s works ignited a spirit of national pride and will continue to inspire generations.”

This is a big blow on the Bollywood industry as they have lost one of their legends. It’s actually a sad time in the movie industry as veterans are giving up the ghost.
