Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he was happy with the one point against Real Betis despite the team’s inability to grab the maximum points.
They played out a disappointing 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Saturday to miss out on the opportunity to go six points clear of Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.
The Blaugrana failed to take advantage of Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Valencia earlier in the day to drop two vital points away from home.
Gavi gave Barcelona the lead with a composed finish from a tight angle in the seventh minute.
Real Betis quickly equalised 10 minutes later through Natan who headed home Giovani lo Celso’s corner.
Real Betis goalkeeper Adrian made a series of impressive saves to deny Barcelona the maximum points.
Barcelona midfielder Gavi was disappointed with the result.
He said: “It was clear that if we won, we’d be further ahead. We had chances and didn’t take advantage of them. A draw is bitter.
“The goal could have been completely avoided. These things happen, and we have to improve on this.”
The draw was enough to move Hansi Flick’s men four points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the title race.
Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick said he was happy with the result despite dropping points.
He said: I’m happy with this one point because we have one game less and one point more.
“There are days you create chances but the opponent withstands them and sits deep, and this was a game like that.”
Up next for Barcelona in the league is an away clash against Leganes on April 12.
